1. Mow Regularly (and Properly)

• Never cut more than 1/3 of the grass blade at a time.

• Mow when the grass is dry to avoid clumping and uneven cuts.

2. Water Deeply, Not Frequently

• Aim for 1 to 1.5 inches of water per week, including rainfall.

• Water early in the morning to reduce evaporation and discourage fungal growth.

• Avoid daily shallow watering—it leads to weak, shallow roots.

• Pull weeds when they’re small to prevent spreading.

• Clean out clogged gutters and downspouts.

3. Keep the Kitchen Clean

• Wipe down counters, sweep floors, and store food in sealed containers.

• Take out trash regularly and clean under appliances.

4. Manage Outdoor Lighting

• Use yellow “bug lights” outdoors to attract fewer insects.

• Keep lighting directed away from entry doors.

5. Trim Plants & Shrubs Away from the House
